1/27/09 - As you may know, the Hayward Classic has been cancelled this year.  Schedule conflicts at Hayward Field and with other meets would have prevented the meet occuring any earlier than late August.  That would have placed it after both nationals and worlds, at a time when most athletes (and officials) have completed their seasons.  The organizing committee decided that wasn't a practical option, nor was an alternate venue (one of the local high schools) an acceptable option.  But the Hayward Classic isn't gone permanently.  We already have a confirmed date for June 2010.

After a rash of records after turning 40 in 2007, Jim Sorensen skipped the 2008 season.  But he is back, running a 4:17.08 mile indoors last weekend.  In the often confused world of masters records, USATF lists the American indoor record as Bill Stewart's 4:11.00 from back in 1983, but new OTCM board member Chris Yorges was also listed as the American record holder at one time.  Tony Young's 4:08 from a few years back came on the oversized UW track.
