Meet Records Prior to 2022 Meet (updated records including 2022 are pending)

The Hayward Classic is one of the top masters track and field meets in the country, now open to athletes age 25 and over. This is a rare opportunity to compete at the newly remodeled Hayward Field, site of the 1972, 1976, 1980, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Trials.

Due to Hayward Field construction and Covid, the Hayward Classic did not take place in 2019, 2020, or 2021.

World Record - William Platts - M90 Javelin - 28.56m (93' 8")
     * Also world record 26.76m (87' 9 1/2") in series

World Record - Colleen Milliman - W90 800m - 5:44.50
     * Broke world record by 1 minute and 12 seconds!

World Record - Sharon Gerl - W70 Mile - 6:38.30

American Record - Lydia McGranahan - W40 3000m Race Walk - 15:11.94

The 2017 Hayward Classic had 4 world records, plus 1 American and 1 Canadian record!

World Record - Christa Bortignon - W80 Triple Jump - 6.81m (22' 4 1/4")
     * Christa also jumped 8.03m (26' 4 1/4") wind aided
     * Several jumps were well past the old world record of 6.55m (21' 6")

World Record - Christa Bortignon - W80 Long Jump - 3.10m (10' 2")

World Record - Doug (Quenton) Torbert - M65 Shot Put - 16.66m (54' 8")
     * Broke the world record multiple times in series
     * Added 2 1/2 feet to the previous record!

World Record - Colleen Milliman - W90 Mile - 13:26.46
     * Oldest women to ever officially race a mile!

American Record - Gary Patton - M70 3,000m - 11:19.29

Canadian Record - Christa Bortignon - W80 100m - 17.32
